These cels are American size. They are about twice the size of Japanese cels. When I aquired these cels from another collector, I wrote to Don Bluth himself to ask what they were. An assistant of his replied to say that they were test cels done in the very early stages of design when Don Bluth was still very adamant about making the movie with cels.  You can see the different and very unique character designs here. Most of these cels are labeled with an archival sticker. I was told they were used to help create the final design and coloring, as well as to pitch the movie to the people with the money. The images themselves were copied from Don Bluth's original sketches, the painted by people on the staff very early on. They were not cel-painters, but were touched and painted by people really on the 'in'. There is airbrush work on many for the 'blush' or 'dirt'.

Demetri looking a little grungier, a little seedier, than his cleaner cut version in the final film.

Saucy Anya with dirt smudges. Also grittier and grungier and more adult.

Another Demetri looking right at the viewer. Very engaging!

Super Cute and shy Anya. I would like to see a film made with such an earthy and organic animated character like this.

Here we go, check out that hat and that swagger!

And here's an Anya that looks a bit more street-wise and perhaps not so innocent.
